Priority issues & challenges

1. Road infrastructure

Secondary roads connecting surrounding villages to the urban district center suffer from persistent neglect and severe asphalt erosion.

2. Water crisis

The local population struggles with a widening gap in drinking water access due to declining water tables and poor filtration infrastructure.

3. Health

Primary health centers lack essential diagnostic facilities, causing a heavy patient overflow at the district's singular main public hospital.

4. Unemployment

A heavy dependence on the seasonal sugar industry leaves nearly 29% of the youth population facing prolonged periods of unemployment.

5. Environmental challenges

Untreated hazardous wastewater discharge from local sugar mills directly contaminates irrigation canals, severely damaging nearby soil health.
